summary of p.1-33

Summary:

  Before the first chapter, the writer first introduce how she know Henrietta Lacks. The writer find some photoes of a woman and these photoes appearl hundreds of times in magazines and science textbooks, on blogs and laboratory walls, but she just know that this woman's cell is the world's first immortal human cell, called HeLa cells. No one know much about the background of this cell, most of the people did not know where the cell comes from, not many people know that it's come from a woman called Henrietta Lacks. People have no ideas of Henrietta Lacks, they do not know who she is even her cells is so popular. So the writer is so interested in this case and she wanted to more about this woman. Then, she had an interview with Henrietta Lacks' daughter Deborah and write this book which talk about Henrietta Lacks' life.
  In the first chapter, the time is 1951, it is the year that Henrietta Lacks find she got the cancer and the HeLa cell born. In this chapter, the wirter write that how Henrietta discover her cancer and she had to do some exam to test her cancer. Finally, she find that the cancer is very trouble. And then when she go to the hospital she need to drive twenty miles to get there and this hospital is the only place will treat the black patients.
  In the second chapter, it return to a older age, about 1920. This chapter is about the early age of Henrietta, where she borned, where she lived. It mostly talk about the life of Henrietta and what she did at there and she find her husband, Day, her cousin who lived in the same room with Henrietta.
  In the third chapter, it go back to 1951. In this chapter, the writer talk about the treatment of Henrietta and what kind of cancer she had. She was very tough, she did not tell anyone about the cancer since she did not want anybody worried about her. She is a very nice person.

Impression:

 I think she is very tough and nice. And i think this few chapter is very interseting, I like this histroy very much.

Question

  Is she just married with her cousin Day? Is is all right to marry with cousin?
  In the passage, we can know that Henrietta's English is not good, so Does she really know how serious of the tumor?
